Sherry

Sherry comes from Jerez, the oldest wine growing region in Spain. Its name comes from the Arab word sherish, the name of a city founded by the Phoenicians almost 3,000 years ago.

Jerez produces a wide range of wines that vary from dry to sweet, clear, dark: Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso, Palo Cortado, Pedro Ximénez, Cremoso and Moscatel.

Sherry is hugely versatile, being suitable for aperitifs, desserts, cocktails and many other uses.

Fedejerez is currently promoting these wines on the Japanese and US markets with the collaboration of the European Union and the Spanish Government.

The aim of these programmes is to advertise these products, placing particular emphasis on the importance of origin in wine quality. Activities include seminars, competitions, training sessions for restaurants and a specifically focused web site.
